'I keep calling grief a journey, because that’s what it’s been for me. It’s been incredibly hard.

'Some moments I am OK and others I can barely catch my breath because my heart aches so deeply.

'I miss Wendy with every ounce of my being. I desperately wish I could hug her once more or hear her voice.

'But when I’m still enough, I realize I really do hear it. I hear it because she’s imbedded in my every thought.'

Lacey called her late sister, whose cause of death has not been released, her 'best friend who also happened to share her DNA.'

She continued: 'We knew each other inside out. I hear her sarcastic humor in my head all day long!

'There was no one funnier. I see her within my daughter - Julia has always reminded my whole family of Wendy.

'We loved each other so much and that doesn’t just go away when someone is no longer here with us physically.

'It’s eternal. I know we were truly blessed to share that kind of love.

'I’m putting one foot in front of the other and making the most of each day. I love you, Wendy. If you’re missing someone you love tonight, my heart is with you.'

Wendy and Lacey, who is most known for playing Gretchen Weiners in the 2004 movie Mean Girls, share another sister named Chrissy, 44, and a brother named T.J.

The actress appears to be very close with her siblings, and she often shares sweet tributes to them on Instagram.

'Couldn’t let #nationalsistersday pass without saying how much I love my two sisters,' she gushed back in August. 'They are the best big sisters ever and I thank God for them every day. Love you, Wendy and Crissy.'

In honor of National Sibling Day a few months earlier, she also wrote, 'Happy #NationalSiblingDay to the best two sisters and brother a girl could ever have. Love you guys so much.'

Lacey and her three siblings grew up in Purvis, Mississippi, with their parents - Julie and Tony Chabert.

As a child, Lacey played Claudia Salinger in the sitcom Party of Five. She went on to voice Eliza Thornberry in The Wild Thornberrys and appear in movies like Lost in Space and Not Another Teen Movie.

But it was her role in Mean Girls that really propelled her into the spotlight.

After her time in Mean Girls, Lacey continued to act - starring in more than 20 Hallmark movies over the years and lending her voice to various cartoons including Family Guy, Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny, Shimmer and Shine, and more.

She married her longtime boyfriend David Nehdar in 2013. They welcomed a daughter together, named Julia, in September 2016.

Despite her and her siblings all living in different areas now, Lacey previously revealed how they stay so close. She explained that they always make sure to always get together for the holidays - no matter how busy they are.

'I have started to realize how much I love our traditions now that I'm a mom. As I'm passing down those traditions to [my daughter], it's almost like we get to relive our childhood,' she told Southern Living.

'My sisters and brother and all of my nephews - I have seven nephews - try to be in my parents' home for Christmas Eve.

'We have a white elephant-style party and and all end up fighting for a particular gift that is so silly.

'We eat and we cook the same things every year. There are recipes that have been passed down from my grandmother and my great-grandmother and my mom.

'It's stuff that I grew up eating as a child during the holidays. I love the tradition of doing the same thing year after year.

'On Christmas morning, we open presents and everyone stays in their pajamas all day long, eats a huge dinner, and we watch our favorite movies.'
