UPDATE: 

A Genseo man has been charged with Home Invasion, Kidnapping, and Aggravated Kidnapping in relation to the abduction of Larry and Constance VanOosten. 

The police narrowed down Chad C. Schipper of Geneseo as the suspect in the investigation. When they found Schipper’s vehicle, they attempted to stop it and a high-speed chase ensued. It ended with a crash on Rt. 84 just outside of Port Byron. 

Schipper was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The VanOostens were treated and released. 

A couple believed to have been abducted from their rural Erie, IL home have been found.

Sergeant Kristopher Schmitd of the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department tells us Larry and Constance Van Oosten are currently being treated at a local hospital.

Schmitd says a suspect has been taken into custody.

Wednesday night, the department issued a press release saying they feared the couple had been abducted after being alerted to a mysterious withdrawal from their bank account by First Trust and Savings Bank.

Authorities have described a vehicle believed to be driven by the suspect: a two-toned, silver, 90’s Chevrolet Caprice.

The sheriff’s office says they will release more information later Thursday morning.
