A video of a dog grooming its cat sibling has gone viral after the pets' owner shared it on the sub-Reddit r/AnimalsBeingBros on Thursday.

The post, by u/iamtheliquor, which has so far had almost 9k upvotes and generated nearly 100 comments, features a caption saying "my dog forcibly grooming my cat." It shows the dog, who is well-known on instagram as @chelseathedog_ig, grooming the cat until the latter has had enough of it.

At the end of the video, the cat can be seen getting angry and just as it looks as if it may be ready to attack, the footage ends.

According to the 2021-2022 American Pet Product Association National Pet Owner Survey, 70% of U.S. households, or 90.5 million homes own a pet, with 69 million homes having at least one dog, and 45.3 million at least one cat.

American families spent more than $123.6 billion on pets in 2020, a figure that went up 13.5 percent year-on-year from 2019 when total revenue for the pet industry was $97.1 billion.

Most redditors loved watching the pets playing and joked about what they might be thinking. One user, Rightintwo7, commented: "Love how the cat looks at the cameraman like really??"

Goldbatt1 added: "So you're just gonna watch?" Impossible_Common_44 said: "Have some damn pride! Clean yourself up, man! I don't care if you're depressed or not!"

Another user, CalliopeKB shared her experience with her own pets: "My cats do this. We call it non-consensual bathtime."

VectorVanGoat said: "I thought it was so funny when my dogs would do this. It's like they take [tiny] nibbles off of corn on the cob! Especially cracked me up when she would groom her legs and it would make that sound, you know the one. Tiny little corn on the cob nibbles lmfao, still cracks me up"

Other users joked the dog wasn't actually grooming the cat but trying to look for something in its fur. Big_You_2196 said: "He was actually looking for the cocaine that's hidden in his fur." Pigwiththreeassholes commented: "Pablo Escobar! Pablo Escobar! Is that you?" RunReadSleep corrected them: "*Pawblo Escobark."

TheFilthyDIL joked: "Dammit, I said I don't want your slobber all over me!" Awwficial asked: "Is that legal?" while El_Bruno73 said: "Yo that's assault bro."

Richardduh wrote: "Cat is getting metoo'd lol" while tjallilex added: "#MeowToo."

OutspokenPerson reassured them: "If cat was not on board with this, dog would be shredded," while another user, who goes by the username bostonkittycat, said: "Love is ruff sometimes".
